I’ve delayed my holiday greetings because I’m well aware of the traditional digital rules: stay upbeat, stay consistent, and always stay “on.”
Social media is a gallery of curated perfection, but life isn’t.
Life is filled with unexpected twists, curveballs and betrayals. After a quiet Christmas here in Vienna, I was hit with a sucker punch that has left my heart broken and my future plans in free-fall.
It is a stark reminder that while technology accelerates, human biology remains the same. When the rug is pulled out from under us, we can’t act like computers and optimize our way through the pain.

This upheaval arrived at a moment of great professional momentum. This past December, I traveled to New Delhi to lead workshops at the American Embassy School, bringing the practice of embodiment to teachers, students, and parents.
Every session reaffirmed what I already knew: people are starving for ways to navigate our digitally saturated world without losing themselves in it.
Below is a photo of teachers experiencing the power of speaking without words.

My book, Embody: The Power of Presence in an Age of Distraction, is built on the foundation of our unique strength: our humanity. But to lead from that place, I must also live from it.
The Pause
It’s breaking all social media rules to step away from my newsletter as I’ve just begun it. With AI, it is effortless to hide behind work or pretend everything is okay. Curating a hollow narrative is easy, but it lacks a soul.
My heart is currently raw; I need to delve into these new depths rather than distract myself from them. I am reducing my digital footprint to find the stillness within and hear what it has to say.
While I’m away, I encourage you to find your own moments of stillness today—whether in silence or a walk in nature. Deep within you is the spark of who you are; when you rest within it, you begin to live from it.
I look forward to connecting with you when I return.
